Art has a way of breaking us out of our daily routine and sparking our imaginations. There is a long tradition of writers using visual art as inspiration for their writing. There is even a name for it: ekphrasis. For this workshop, we'll meet at the Frist Art Museum and, with the help of some creative prompts, write our own poems and stories inspired by art.
We will be touring the special exhibit: "Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism." If you're already familiar with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, this workshop will help you connect to their work in an entirely new way. If you don't know much about Kahlo or Diego, that's okay: no prior familiarity is necessary, and this will be a great way to experience their work for the first time.
