Once again, The Porch (SLANT), Hume-Fogg, and USN teamed up to invite teens from around Middle Tennessee to gather at University school of Nashville for a day of creative writing. Attendees had a chance to participate in morning and afternoon writing workshops in a variety of genres including poetry, fiction, songwriting, spoken word, screenwriting, & radio journalism. Between workshops, students were able to grab some pizza and talk before hearing the keynote address by novelist Ed Tarkington. Ed shared a few stories from his own life and writing experience, but spent most of his time answering questions. Students asked challenging and insightful questions, and each one of Ed's responses was a story in its own right. Finally, at the end of the day, participants came together for an open mic and shared some of the pieces that they spent the day creating.
